An ulama is a mature Muslim who possesses sound knowledge of Islam and practises it. This is the foundational principle of PUM membership.
Some people hesitate to become members because they feel they do not possess sufficiently deep Islamic knowledge. In fact, PUM membership is open to Muslims who love and are committed to the mission of the ulama, even if they are not specialists in Islamic studies. What matters is a sincere love for Islam and a desire to see it upheld.
